$335,000 in Grants Awarded from ArtsEverywhere Fund
The Community Foundation of St. Joseph County recently awarded
over $335,000 in grants to local arts and culture nonprofits from
its ArtsEverywhere Fund.
Major Venture grants—each for $150,000
at $50,000 a year over three years—went to WNIT Public Television
and to the Rotary Club of South Bend. WNIT’s Major Venture
grant will support its campaign to relocate to a new broadcast
facility in downtown South Bend, which has the potential to create
more opportunities for local arts coverage. The grant to the Rotary
Club will fund the renovation or possibly the replacement of the
bandshell at Potawatomi Park. This is part of a larger project:
The Community Foundation recently received an Access to Recreation
grant from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation to collaborate with the
South Bend Parks and Recreation Department to make the entire Potawatomi
Park complex more accessible. The bandshell will be an important
aspect of that work, creating a space for public arts performances
that people of all abilities will be able to enjoy.
Capacity-building grants went to the Fischoff National Chamber
Music Association, Southold Dance Theater, and Vesper Chorale,
while seven organizations received project-specific grants: South
Bend Heritage Foundation, the South Bend Regional Museum of Art,
South Bend Chamber Singers, the South Bend Symphony Orchestra Association,
the Children’s
Campus for a partnership with South Bend Civic Theatre, Southold
Dance Theater, and the Walkerton Area Historical Society.
