The Picturing Community Project
It’s a well-worn phrase, but a true one: A picture tells
a thousand words. Powerful images can stay anchored in our minds
for years, shaping the way we think and feel. That’s why
the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County, working through
its ArtsEverywhere fund, created the Picturing Community project.
Picturing Community connects 15 of our strongest local nonprofit
agencies in health and human services, education, and the arts
with some of the area’s most talented photographers. The
photos that result will become key elements of these organizations’ communications
efforts, showcasing the good work they do.
You’ll have a chance to see the best of these photos at
the Picturing Community exhibit, which will be held in
the Center for History’s Carroll Gallery. The exhibit opens
to the public on September 17, 2008. Featured nonprofit organizations
include the Boys & Girls Club, Center for History, Center for
the Homeless, Head Start, Hope Ministries, LOGAN, YMCA of Michiana,
Public Education Foundation, REAL Services, Reins of Life, South
Bend Civic Theatre, South Bend Heritage Foundation, South Bend
Museum of Art, Southold Dance Theatre, and YWCA of St. Joseph County.
The photographers include Scott Bourdon, Shayna Breslin, Matt Cashore,
Marty Eby, Santiago Flores, Art Hansen and Janet Graham, Chris
Minnick, Jim Rider, Peter Ringenberg, and Marcus
Snowden.
When you donate to the ArtsEverywhere Fund, you support projects
like this one—big picture projects that make a difference
throughout our community.
