Fall 2006 Special Project Challenge Grants

$30,000 to United Way of St. Joseph County for the 4Community Collaboration project to streamline the service delivery system for energy assistance in our community.

$25,000 to Near Northwest Neighborhood, Inc. to support the California Avenue Revitalization project.

$20,000 to Women's Care Center to support the provision of on-site prenatal health care at the LaSalle Avenue site accompanied by group prenatal education and one-on-one goal counseling.

$20,000 to American Red Cross-St. Joseph County Chapter to support the Refugee Resettlement Program.

$14,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County to support the implementation of the Power Hour program at the Perley and Wilson Primary Center sites.

$10,000 to University of Notre Dame to support stipends for St. Joseph County high school teachers working within the Research Experience for Teachers summer program at the University of Notre Dame.

$4,748 to Corvilla, Inc. to support the Home Safety and Spruce-Up Project. Corvilla runs and maintains four group homes for people with developmental disabilities. This grant funded improvements at the home on Bulla Drive including the removal of twenty-nine large trees that had become a danger to the home, replacement of the driveway to ease issues with wheelchairs and walkers, and minor roofing repairs. All repairs were completed within the anticipated budget and have improved accessibility of home for residents.

$4,000 to CASIE Center to support the upgrade of CASIE Center's child forensic interview recording equipment.

$1,180 to Lifeline Youth & Family Services, Inc. to assist with the purchase of laptops and mobile printer/fax units for the expansion of in-home services in St. Joseph County.
